Apr 4, 2002/ FWD/ --- Elizabeth Hurley has given birth to a baby boy, Damian Charles.
"Both mother and baby are happy and healthy," said her spokeswoman in a statement this
afternoon.
The news comes as a surprise to many since Hurley's family denied rumors that began
circulating Wednesday, after she quickly departed her South Kensington home, that she had
gone into labor, claiming she was not due "for another fortnight."
There was speculation that she had fled because Petar Mihalovic, who was arrested for
stalking the former Estee Lauder model last December, was once again loitering around her
home. He had previously urged her in his threatening letters to "get rid" of her unborn child.
The child's father -- according to Hurley -- is Steve Bing. The American film producer
flat-out denies it, and is now expected to request a DNA test.
Mihalovic, though, would be more than happy to claim paternity of the child. Supposedly,
one of the many threatening letters he sent Hurley included the order: "If you've got to keep
it [the baby], say it's mine."
Throughout the whole ordeal, Hurley's former boyfriend of 13 years, Hugh Grant, has been by
her side. It was he who called the police on Mihalovic last December.
