Over 400 designers from all over the world exhibit at Pure Essentials. This
year's exhibit was about giving the visitor a taste of the looks and key pieces for Spring 2002.
If you are looking for the season's must have, then Pure Essentials is for you.
Pure Essential is Europe's most directional trade event for retailers of womenswear. Organized by Emap
Fashion and Igedo, it is held twice a year in London.
Pure showcased the cream of Europe’s leading fashion forward labels. Together with
Premier Womenswear which is held simultanously with Pure, the
two created the largest womenswear offer ever seen in the UK for over five years.
Buyers could explore over 900 new and established womenswear labels all under one roof.
There were a total of 5 catwalk shows during the three-day exhibition, each of them was a grouping
of the key trends as forecasted by Drapers Record.
So what were the trends that emerged?
The romantic look is back with floaty and soft silhouettes. Draped or ruched or off-shoulder, the
fabric are sheered or layered.
Bold & bright for colors and graphics from retro and contemporary influences.
Denim is still a favorite, but embroidery and appliques are out.
Coordinated coats and dresses in lightweight suiting.
