Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show

May 28, 2002/ FW/ -- Remember Julia Robert's vintage Valentino dress that she wore at the Oscars the year she won the Best Actress Award?

That year, she also made the Best Dressed List for the Oscars according to People Magazine.

Even Britney Spears is not immune to it charms. Her Victorian lace blouses definitely has vintage written all over it!

And if you haven't heard yet, vintage clothes is the new rage for the fashionista set.

If you're already a vintage clothes buff, or just curious on what the rage is all about, the place to be is at the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show.

Slated on June 7th & 8th, at New York's Metropolitan Pavillion, 40 vintage clothes dealers from 14 states will be assembled at the show.

Thinking of Britney Spears? There will be Victorian lace garments to choose from. You can even outdo the singing diva with sheer beaded flapper dresses, glamourous 1930s bias cut gowns and 1940s tailored chic.

Remember The Beatles and Woodstock?

If you are a romantic 1970s "flower child," then, this show is a must visit. Early peasant blouses and Yves Saint Laurent 1960s designs to the 1970s bell bottom jeans abound in the show.

There will also be pocketbooks of every description and size: from leather to needlepoint, from celluloid to velvet, from big and pouchy to small and structured.

Highlights of the June show inclueds: collection of Irish crochet gowns and coats and deco chinoiserie evening coat, beaded and sequined in pastel colors.

For those interested in high fashion, there will be daywears by Kenzo, blouses by YSL, clothes and gowns by Halston, Scott Barrie and Ossie Clark.

The list goes on with 1950s floral sundresses, bathing suits from the 1950s and 1960s, Deadstock 1940s shoes, Deadstock Claire McCardell gingham gloves and super adorable Deadstock kids othes.

There will also be 1920s beaded dresses, 1940s rayon dresses and 1950s cotton dresses.

Is the list getting too long for you?

It's because there is no limits to the imagination of the past.

You can expand your own sense of style at the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show.

When you get there, don't be surprised if you see some top designers, celebrities and style setters there because that where they find their treasures.
