Armani to Skip LA, Vanity Fair Dinner Postponed
75th Academy Awards

Mar 15, 2003/ FWD/ --- Giorgio Armani has made it official: he will not be flying to LA for next week's Oscar festivities.
The March 19 Walk of Style ceremony that was to honor the designer with the first-ever Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award was already postponed Tuesday. "In light of the current world situation, the Board of Directors of the Rodeo Drive Committee felt that postponing the event was the proper action to take until such a time as there is easing of tension," the organization's president Peri Ellen Berne said in a statement.
Despite this change in itinerary, however, Armani's camp maintained this week that he would still make the trip from Italy. "As of now, Mr. Armani is still scheduled to come to LA, but that could change at any moment due to the war situation," a spokesperson told FWD Wednesday.
Apparently that situation has now become sufficiently serious, and the designer issued a statement Thursday announcing that his visit will be rescheduled for "later this spring."
A private dinner also planned for March 19, hosted by Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Graydon Carter in honor of Armani and Martin Scorsese, will now also be rescheduled for the time of that visit.
The Emporio Armani event celebrating the publication of Steven Cojocaru's "Red Carpet Diaries: Confessions of a Glamour Boy" is still on for March 20, but will now take place at the Emporio Armani store at 443 North Rodeo Drive, rather than at the originally scheduled location, the future site of the new Emporio Armani store at 9533 Brighton Way.
