NEW YORK, Sept 21, 1999/ FW/ --
About 90 designers showed their latest collection at 7th on Sixth. Officially, it's called
General Motors Fashion Week, because GM is the main sponsor.
7th on Sixth is actually the
name of the organizers, named after the heart of New York's fashion industry, 7th Avenue
and 6th Avenue where Bryant Park is located, the main site of the show.
So, what's the trends?
Yellow slickers and galoshes! Hurricane Floyd hit New York City on
Thursday, which halted all the shows after Jill Stuart.
Seriously speaking, what are the trends?
Luxury and vibrant colors! The U.S. economy is on the rise and has been its highest since after
WWII. And it shows in the collection. Michael Kors showed lemon bikinis, peach pants, pale-blue
dresses with baby-pink trim and shimmering topaz evening gowns. Ralph Lauren showed ginghams and
Tommy Hilfiger showed rock & roll! In short, it's all about American chic!
