PARIS, Jul 6, 2006/ FW/ --- Artistry and artisanship rule haute couture. Hundreds of hours are spent creating the delicate embroidery and detailed beading. But what if these telltale signs do not exist yet, the craftsmanship and masterful execution of the design are still present? It’s called the Adeline André magic.

Presenting her Fall 2006 haute couture collection to a select crowd at the Hotel Liberal Bruant in Paris’ third arrondissement, Adeline André’s creations looked simple compared to the exuberant shows that have been presented so far this season.

That the requisite embroidery and beading were missing was obvious. Yet, there was something else that cannot be seen – the thread, stitches and seams that are definite requirements when creating a garment!

Maybe, André used invisible thread, maybe, she just whisked her magic wand and voila, the clothes were done! But, André is not Harry Potter, nor she went to school at Hogwarts School of Magic.

She is an accomplished couturier and her magic comes from her mastery of tailoring techniques and artisanship.

So, where did all the seams go? Were they hidden cleverly with the folds of the clothes? Where did the cape from the red outfit come from when obviously in front it looked like a normal one-piece apparel?

And better yet, how can a bow be tied to close a coat if we don’t see the rest of it? It must be magic!

It’s a sleight of the hand, couture style! André might not look exciting at first glance, but her artistry and mastery of couture techniques cannot be denied.
