SYDNEY, May 4, 2005/ FW/ --- The ten-year celebration this week is not only a celebration for
the Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week organization, it was also a special occasion yesterday morning for long time Sydney fashion guru Alex Perry.
His ten-year anniversary runway collection entitled ‘Aegean Princess’ was the perfect tribute not only to his heritage, but also to his love of dressing women.
Signature evening pieces in crisp white and contrasting black fell to the floor, all accentuating busts and waistlines for the fluid yet sensual Perry silhouette.
Dazzling and pretty, feminine and sparkling, nights are brighter and more intense, like the new version of the baby doll, which is turned from nightwear to evening glam, flowing to the floor and dancing as ladies move.
Beading is essential to this red carpet collection as well as fabric and tulle applique in repetitious circular patterns and dangling tassles.
And yet Perry is one of the few Australian designers specializing in eveningwear, its no surprise this gentleman has been around since the beginning and it doesn’t look like he is going anywhere, sticking to what he does best, making women feel and look wonderful, after all girls often simply want to be girls.
