SYDNEY, May 3, 2004/ FW/ --- On a sunny day in Sydneyville, the glamorous came out of the
woodwork and the fashionistas milled outside the tents down on the ‘quay’.
Day one at Australian fashion week spring summer 2004/05.
Yet while the trends surfacing are pretty much predictable, there were already some pleasant
surprises by mid afternoon.
Jayson Brunsdon, ex-creative director of the king of Australian fashion Morrissey,
put together a well executed first solo show full of pretty Lois Lane type housewives cum
Greek goddess’s, while Gwendolynne turned laser cut design into essential feminine detail
and Zimmermann showed some great patterns.
Lisa Ho: Vibrant Colors In Kaleidoscope Patterns
Lisa Ho opened fashion week on a positive note at the Town Hall, a beautiful colonial
building smack bang in the city centre.
Vibrant colors came in kaleidoscope patterns, floral and bold monotones of fuchsia,
citrus green and purple as pretty girly dresses flowed whimsically down the runway.
Often full length and in silk georgette, she used layering and hinted at the exotic with
influences reminiscent of the 50’s and 1970’s, proving clean cuts are the key to her
success in elegant elements of style.
