Mercedes Australian Fashion Week Spring 2006
By Mari Davis

DALLAS, Apr 18, 2005/ FW/ --- With over 100 designers from the Asia Pacific region listed to participate, Mercedes Australian Fashion Week has become the biggest fashion event south of the equator.

Being the first to present the Spring 2006 collection, MAFW takes the lead in creating the latest buzz of fashion innovations.

Headlining the list is New York’s darling Sass & Bide, which incidentally is also closing the season. Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke were virtually unknown before 2000. They catapulted into world fame with their signature denim hipster jeans featuring a 2-inch zip.

Alex Perry considered “Australia’s Most Glamorous Designer” also returns this season. Notable name is Princess Charlotte by Charlie Brown, the new incarnation of designer Charlie Brown who had been gone for several seasons.

The runway shows are scheduled to be held from Monday, May 2, 2006 to Friday, May 6, 2006, with a special event opening ceremonies on Sunday May 1. Two days are scheduled for visiting showrooms – May 7 and 8.

Located at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on the spectacular Sydney Harbour, the five-day official schedule includes on-site and off-site Collection Shows, a dedicated on-site agents area - Agent Suites @ MAFW and our exclusive boutique exhibition - The Source @ MAFW
