SYDNEY, May 3, 2005/ FW/ --- For the international fashion press who is used to the hectic schedules of New York, Milan and Paris, Mercedes Australian Fashion Week’s calendar looked calm on paper, but it could pack some heat to use a phrase.

Add to that the reality of the situation wherein this fashion journalist has to cover the show without the usual support team when covering fashion week and still have to keep up with the tight deadlines, the result is mayhem!

But, all’s well ends well, as Shakespeare had said. After sorting out invitations, seats, photos and internet access, the editors are happy and information starts flowing.

Yesterday’s hectic morning was followed by a relatively serene afternoon and evening, wherein, finally, this reporter was able to relax to enjoy the show.

First on the list during the latter half of the day was JAYSON BRUNSDON who heeded the siren calls of the American Southwest with his desert hues in silks, chiffon and taffeta.

TRELISE COOPER, New Zealand’s first lady of glamour continued her dalliance with the bohemian chic but added barely-there dresses, or was it lingerie? Nevertheless, Trelise Cooper answered the question, ‘what do gypsies wear in the bedroom?’

For the Ready-To-Wear 2 Group Show, ARABELLA RAMSAY, BELINDA FAIRBANKS and SHAKUHACHI all opted for flowing dresses.

But while Fairbanks chose to highlight the evening, Shakuhachi dressed the ladies for the day, Arabella Ramsay’s (photo at right) Euro-Australian looks stood out.
