SYDNEY, May 4, 2005/ FW/ --- As Mercedes Australian fashion week continues, so does the talent.

Hence despite some important veteran names in Australian fashion like New York calendar scheduled Sass & Bide, Morrissey and the recently declared bankrupt Wayne Cooper ‘dropping out’ of the official fashion calendar, one begins to wonder what the week will actually have instore.

So it is a delightful surprise when new talent appears strong and determined, old names return to the runway and to see that most designers in just a single year have matured and grown.

San Francisco-native and Sydney-based CHARLIE BROWN returns to the runway with her latest label, PRINCESS CHARLOTTE after 4 years of absence. Princess Charlotte by Charlie Brown is “an eclectic mix of one-off evening-wear designs. A little bit of rock, a lot of attitude and embellishment of jewel.”

For LEONA EDMISTON’s “FROCKS is a tribute to the dress in all its incarnations. The label celebrates the confident urban woman. It exudes classic femininity, effortless style, chic and sexy sophistication.”

TINA KALIVAS’ “contemporary and the modern silhouettes is high end, sophisticated, where the clothes are sculptured and are made beautifully.”

Kate Sylvester KATE SYLVESTER, one of New Zealand’s premier fashion designers, is fast building a worldwide market presence in contemporary women’s clothing.

Her mixing traditional and high tech fabrications, results to a silhouette that is sharp and structured on the body and her use of bold and unusual colour combinations ensures a strong look for the modern woman.
