SYDNEY, May 5, 2005/ FW/ --- DAY FOUR in Sydney and for a moment the week looked like it was losing its punch. But last nights showing of Australian up and coming fashion darling label Willow and ex-Alexander McQueen girl, Tina Kalivas, who both showed strong and intelligent fashion, the falter was only momentary.
With new buyers and trend reporters in town to the likes of top US name Victoria Secret seen at the Bettina Liano show this morning, the last two days are set to sizzle.
Melbourne-based BETTINA LIANO is recognized as an “Australian style innovator, across fashion, denim, street wear and now swim.”
Design trio Lucas Bowers, Tristram John & Erica Wadle for ERICAAMERICA launched their new collection for menswear and debuted their womenswear label, ‘Dressage.’
“An undertaking of this scale is the biggest thing we’ve had to do for this label” Lucas Bowers, one third of the trio told MAFW, “but with the launch of our new women’s wear range next to “Wanted” - our most visually appealing collection yet - it is also the most exciting period in the history of the label so far.”
"27-year-old Toni Maticevski is one of the most talked about new names in Australian fashion. With his signature manipulation of traditional fashion silhouettes and use of beautiful materials, his style marks a desirable departure from the conventional."
NATASHA GAN, JTAH, BEC AND BRIDGE are the three young designers featured at the ‘Ready-To-Wear 6’ group show.
