Bangkok, Oct 15, 2001/ FW/ --- Bangkok International Fashion Fair 2002 is underway. With strong ambition and close cooperation,
the Government of Thailand and the private sectors have created an exciting new image for the Thai
Fashion, Apparel and Textile industries.
For the BIFF 2002, the creative emphasis will be on the New Age of Ethnic and the New Age of
Design with all its potential to meet International and Domestic markets’ demand.
The Bangkok International Fashion Fair (BIFF 2002) was officially launched on 25th June 2001
with a press conference at the Department of Export Promotion.
The press conference was chaired by Deputy Director General Mr. SongChai Saisavetvaree, and
representatives from private sectors including Mr.Suchart Chantranaknraj, President of the Thai
Garment Manufacturing Association and Mr. Somchai Songwattana, President of Thailand’s Brand
Association.
More than 100 representatives from Thailand Fashion, Textile, and apparel exporting industries
were at the press conference. At that event, many unique and colorful fabric designs from the
Mae Fah Luang Foundation, a well-recognized organization respected for its originality and
creativity.
Moreover, Thai silk garments tailored by Jim Thompson a world famous label noted for the high
quality of silk apparel and accessories were showcased in a capsule collection presented by
well-known Thai models.
The main objectives of BIFF 2002 are to promote Thailand as a center of excellence for the fashion
industry in the Asia region, and to increase awareness of Thailand’s creative talents, quality and
innovative skills of its manufacturers.
