Bridal Must-Have: Vera Wang's All-Inclusive Wedding Book
NEW YORK, Nov 12, 2001/ --- Since 1990 when she set up shop on Madison Avenue and injected a
touch of modernity and chic into the sugar-puff bridal industry, Vera Wang's name has become
synonymous with weddings.
She's done wedding dresses for a slew of stylish celebs - Kate Hudson, Karenna Gore and
Sharon Stone, to name just a few - as well as same-sex brides and brides seven-months-pregnant.
The Sensualist bride, the Exhibitionist bride, the Goth bride, the Traditionalist bride - she's
outfitted them all and made each one individually beautiful.
And now Wang, a former "Vogue" editor and Ralph Lauren design director, offers her vast
nuptial knowledge in her new book, "Vera Wang on Weddings," a project she's wanted to do
since she entered the bridal business.
Think beautifully stylized fashion spreads, sentimental "Hello!" worthy snaps, and all the
wisdom, advice, and suggestions you'd ever need or want (e.g. How exactly do you toss that
garter?), and you have Wang's lush 287-page tome.
"I can truthfully say that no one is more obsessed with brides than I am," the ultra-intense
New York native has claimed. And one major fashion authority seems to agree: "Only [Wang]
could have produced such a beautiful volume of telling anecdotes, unforgettable photography
and practical wisdom," reads the book's forward, written by "Vogue" editor Anna Wintour.
Only Wang, is right. This is a woman who's been at more weddings than white rice (though Wang
actually favors petals) and knows things that no one will really tell you. For instance: Did
you know brides are viewed from the back for 90 percent of the time? Makes you consider a
sexy, back-baring ensemble, doesn't it?
Suffice it to say, the $60 book, published by HarperCollins, is a magnificent must-have for
all brides-to-be.
