Two years ago, Carven’s July show fell on my birthday. That was a not so happy period in my
life for diverse reasons.
Upon dragging my depressed carcass backstage to congratulate Pascal on another fine collection,
he greeted me with a wonderful birthday surprise.
Now, when I arrived backstage, Pascal was already in the midst of granting interviews to
a host of other television presenters and leading print journalists vying for his attention.
When he saw me, he screamed, “Oh, Marcellous!” He kindly asked them all to wait a minute.
Then he walked away from the cameras in order to recover a gift that he had brought with him
to the show for me.
I don’t know about you, but I thought that was one of the most thoughtful things that anyone
in fashion had ever done for me. And so unexpected!
I mean, the fate of one of the world’s oldest haute couture houses rested upon his shoulders and creative talents. And what did he do? He took time to think about my birthday. Wow!
That event has remained with me as one of the most fond memories that this industry has given
to me.
Not surprisingly, it is with that same notion of sensitivity and care that he plunges himself into his work. It is so clear and obvious when watching one of his beautiful gowns or wedding dresses come down the runway.
The audience and clients are so privileged because they always feel that magical connection that exists between the couturier Pascal Millet and his unique creations.
