PARIS, Aug 6, 2006/ FW/ --- Fall 2006 marked the return of Carven on the official haute calendar and Pascal Millet is back with a vengeance! Millet has matured as a designer and has a sure hand in his aesthetics.
Presenting a small, but highly covetable and easy-to-wear collection last month during the Paris Haute Couture season, Millet’s Carven lady for Fall 2006 is mysterious, well traveled and at home in any culture.
Playing with volume and texture, Millet emphasized the shoulders with strapless and one-shoulder gowns. With the bodice taut, the skirt made of layered lace, and the color turning monochromatic white to beige, the gown is a statement of romantic sophistication.
Openwork beading defined stylized flowers and embroidery alluded to an apron effect. A ruche skirt featured embroidered flat piping while a lace overlay adorned a day coat.
For day dresses, the silhouettes are slim and structured, while for evening, the look is more fluid and voluminous.
Millet’s coup de grace is the bride who looked innocent and sophisticated at the same time with the bustier inspired bodice and sheered skirt. A long sleeved embroidered lace encrusted with jewels and constructed with a high neck served as both coat and overlay.
Welcome back Pascal Millet! You were surely missed!
