DALLAS, Mar 31, 2005/ FW/ --- Fashion’s most glamorous night continues to get support from one of the most recognizable name in fashion, Swarovski.
Founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895 after inventing a machine that can cut crystal to perfection, the Swarovski Group has been synonymous with art and culture for over a century as the company broke new grounds in the uses of crystals from jewelry, home accessories, even fashion.
A favorite among fashion designers, Swarovski crystals had literally added sparkle and shine to almost all kinds of garments from couture gowns to everyday denim.
And for the fourth year in a row, the Swarovski group is underwriting CFDA’s gala night, to honor the achievement of American fashion designers on June 6, 2005 at the New York Public Library.
“Each year, it has been thrilling to watch the industry embrace the inspiring creativity of these young designers and recognize their efforts to break boundaries and rise to new challenges,” said Nadja Swarovski, Vice President of Swarovski International Communications in the announcement.
Swarovski is also sponsoring three awards for emerging designers: Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Menswear, Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear and Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Accessory Design.
The winner in each category will receive generous financial support and product from Swarovski, as well as exposure to the company's vast and innovative crystal resources.
Nominees for the Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Menswear are: Thom Browne, Rogan Gregory for Rogan and Alexandre Plokhov for Cloak.
The nominees for Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear are: Derek Lam, Behnaz Sarafpour, and Peter Som.
