PARIS, Jul 6, 2005/ FW/ --- Daniel Faret presented his Summer 2006 collection to the utter delight of the international press corps and buyers. This collection sees the designer known as the “colour king” taking his research in shape and design to new levels.
His inspiration for this collection is Porto Cervo where one finds billionaires throwing lavish and decadent yachts parties. The suits are cut “straight” and with surgical precision, while the pants are done in a way that they literally hold onto the hips.
To drive home this point, one need only look at the slacks and summer trousers in this collection. Faret created what he calls a “faux high-waist”. They have a tremendously wide waist band that literally takes a man’s backside and puts it up the stage transforming their wearer into a modern day version of Rudolf Valentino.
Of the first pieces that seizes one attention is the honey comb fabric blazer done in red and white. Its look is sheer dynamite.
Always one to add technological innovation to his collections and use new materials, Faret created a safari jacket from material used to create yachting and boating sails.
The designer also created pieces made from denim that has been first washed, then tinted before finally being painted for a youthful appearance.
His detailing is exemplary as one takes note of his T-shirts and his V-neck tops in cotton, yet with their neckline and arms trimmed in knit.
