Doo.Ri: Leather & Suede

NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2004/ FW/ --- Ecco Domani winner Doo.Ri showed the reason why she was chosen as one of the five young designers chosen to be given a grant by the Italian wine company – she can work on leather and suede and incorporate them artistically in almost any kind of fabric.

Friday night at Mao Space, the young designer presented leather and suede trims with nylons of various cuts and designs as the main highlight of her collection.

With black as the main color palette, sprinkled with royal blue, caramel and aqua, plus a generous dash of red, Doo Ri’s 22 exits is a statement of utter femininity.

The double-breasted coat, asymmetrical skirts, evening and day dresses sported a leather or suede trim either on the shoulder, at the back, at the waist or on the neckline.

Using ruching, fringes and draping, the young designer went for the jugular and explored a woman’s need to feel like a lady.

The wine wool jersey high waist dress with shrug and wine jersey off the shoulder top worn with suede pants which were both highlighted with leather trims around the neckline gave an edgy feel.

Both of the black jersey top wit cutout back and black jersey with fringe arm also had the necklines trimmed with leather and were worn with fitted wool pants can easily be worn for a night out in the town, maybe even to see a Broadway play.

Most of the models sported handbags by Anjali for Tulci that seem to work with the designs very well and indicate that the designs were fitting for a power lunch followed by night clubbing at night.
