Doo.Ri NEW YORK, Feb 6, 2006/ FW/ --- --- In a very sterile atmosphere of white walls and black chairs in the Metropolitan Pavilion, Doori presented a very mature collection all centered around one great silhouette.

The show kicked off with a wonderful wool black and white melton jacket that was at least 20 inches in diameter flower appliquéd on the lapel. Very soft and feminine was the statement of the hour. Each silhouette was established around the late 70’s to mid 80’s cut on a circular bias that draped around each model perfectly.

Pants legs were over sized very reminiscent of an early YSL collection with an empire waist. Coats and tops were half sleeved which allowed for elbow gloves and fitted tops underneath to give that extra chicness and texture. Other tops were seen in silks and charmeuse and made strapless for night.

There was a great ease to the collection of comfort and workability for today’s woman who wants to look fashion forward, but also wants a sense of reality to her ensemble. Boleros and other cropped jackets defined a stiff but controlling top while the skirts and dress detailing gave a looser illusion.

As the evening silhouettes entered, one could see a greater influence of Halston with rouging affects on gowns and slate cuts at the straps. The collection finished with a plaid wool melton shrug over a black and silk jersey gown. What soft elegance and poise for Doo.ri.
