PARIS, Jan 25, 2006/ FW/ --- It was a midsummer night’s dream for Franck Sorbier’s guests today at Le Lido de Paris as he presented water nymphs, flowers and plants come to life with his delicately beautiful Spring 2006 haute couture collection.

Everyone knew that it would be a magical show with the sounds of flowing water as the background music coupled with a cascading waterfall on the stage. As the lights dimmed, classical music filled the air, the models literally emerging from the make believe pond.

With lights flickering like fireflies, the first model walked on the circular runway, wearing a green floor length bodice-hugging gown that opened up like a flower right on the bust line.

Emphasizing the shoulders and the waist, Franck Sorbier then sent out halter neck gowns, strapless cocktail dresses, coats made of different colored fabrics cut like flower petals and metallic yarns folded for volume that looked fluffy enough to resemble luscious fur.

Black lace was both dainty and sophisticated while tie dying became an art form as Sorbier blended colors and added texture by way of stamping the fabric and shaping them like unopened flowers.

‘Vines’ were beaded or braided, artfully arranged to look earthy and to make the look ephemeral, Swarovski crystals were embedded for an added sparkle.

It was magical from the word ‘go’ taking the audience to a delightful ride. The only downside of this collection was that it had to end when everyone wanted to see more.

So, after Franck Sorbier took his bow to the sound a very appreciative applause, the audience reluctantly stood up hoping that the models would stay instead of going back to the ‘pond’ which by that time was in the process of submerging.
