Givenchy PARIS, Mar 3, 2005/ FW/ --- There was a certain excitement at the Givenchy showroom today as the appointment of Riccardo Tisci as Creative Director of Givenchy haute couture and womenswear became official.

But, that was not just the reason for the excitement. The Fall 2005 collection created by the house’s atelier was getting a lot of oohs and aahs from the buyers present. Staying with classic silhouettes, the atelier added little twists and waves; making it more than just an attractive collection… it was also very avant-garde.

Daywear was very contemporary using fabrics from cashmere to treated leather and python skin. Standouts include a shiny, almost metallic blue pencil cut skirt and short-cropped jacket and a black and white dress with a bias skirt with matching ankle-cut boots.

Eveningwear was tailored as exemplified by the fully sequined flared pants and jacket that also flared beginning at the waist.

The collection has a certain charm to it and it is easy to imagine the clothes on live models instead of the mannequins.

Givenchy fans do not have to wait long though. Come July, during the haute couture Fall 2005 season, Riccardo Tisci will debut on the runway!
