Grey Ant Fall 2003: 'Masters of Destiny'
Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2003

LOS ANGELES, Apr 5, 2003/ FW/ --- People were welcomed to the Grey Ant 'Masters of Destiny' Fall 2003, show by men and women in long white hooded robes emblazoned with the Grey Ant logo. The hall the show was held in had low lighting and decorative urns of artificial flame. "Welcome to the cult of the Grey Ant," we were told warmly by the hooded staff, excuse me, cult members.
We were each provided a small cultish booklet with photographs of "Dedicated Followers," quotes and tips on how to be the Master of your destiny. Tips such as "Wear a Grey Ant garment today and express some real joy."
Behind screens the silhouettes of robed musicians began to play live music. And the show itself began.
The models had their faces covered by wild zigzag painted oval masks; their clothing was edgy and futuristic and their shoes Nike platform heels. The clothing seemed created for the club scene more than anything with a few fantastic standouts and more than a few items only those with stellar bodies could attempt at pulling off. Or maybe it should be "attempt at putting on."
Among the more modest items presented were cream-colored flair leg pants and a clever calf length skirt the color of Pepto Bismo. Navy pants with ruffles down the legs were fantastic with iridescent colors peeking from between the folds of cloth. And flowing shirts in shades of dark pink and red brought to mind the faeries of A Midsummer's Night Dream.
For those of the mind and body to wear the more risky styles, Grey Ant offered a knit mesh-like short sleeve shirt that was absolutely see-through or see-through body suits with integrated silver bikini bottoms.
Many of the shirts had futuristically large square shoulders and there were also a variety of union suits with pockets on both the chest and hip area.
Expect some of these styles to appear at a Rave near you.
