Grey Ant Spring 2007: Sleep Wear in Motion
New York Fashion Week Spring 2007
By Randal Jacobs
NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2006/ FW/ --- The Grey Ant fashion show was much more than fashion, it was a show of expression and art in motion.
Grant Krajecki, the designer for Grey Ant, started off the show with an intense eclectic acid/ modern dance presentation. The dancers were dressed in muted tones, washed out violets, greys and creams which resembled sleep-wear meets tribal garments. The white face masks enhanced the tribal motif. Throughout the show Krajecki alternated between the performance and the traditional runway show.
The seventies are making a come back for the Grey Ant customer, and it was heavily reflected in the collection. Krajecki used organic vine prints on cutout cotton body suit tops inspired by Chrissy Hynes paired with high wasted, "Charlie's Angels" denim. Off the shoulder and haltered tops along in flowing fabrics created looks that perfected the seventies trendy era in the second segment of the show.
The mini shorts and skinny jeans were staples for this period, but will be re-birthed and made anew for this generation. Within the last two seasons the skinny jean has made it to the American high street, but the high waisted and often time double waisted jeans are the new take on the trendy skinny jean.
The construction of the garments are easy and effortless creating a thin line between lounge and day wear. This comfortable approach to fashion allows the Grey Ant woman to be relaxed and still be fashion forward at the same time.
Grey Ant will be a success for the woman who wants to revive her wardrobe or for that young lady who loves expressing her indviduality.
