NEW YORK, Feb 10, 2004/ FW/ --- The press notes said that Gustavo Arango “takes the modernist spirit for a ride with his stylish play of opposites,” for Fall 2004. Seeing his collection, it is really Lord Byron’s “She Walks In Beauty” come alive.
With fine detailing and impeccable tailoring, Gustavo Arango’s soft silhouettes are eloquent statements of feminine charm.
From the rose fox cropped jacket over cocoa sateen slim skirt, to the charcoal embroidered wool boucle pants until the two final exits of silk gowns worn by Ekatarina and Omahyra, the Puerto Rico-based designer captured allure.
Standouts from the collection include the eggplant silk twill coat and the white fox chiffon vest, which are perfect for those cool fall days.
With sequins, beads and embroidery, the designer also gave a nod to glamour, one of the strongest trends coming from the tents this season.
The Gustavo Arango woman is a girly girl, but she is not cutesy or pretty. She is beautiful and sultry, with the softness and calmness worthy of Lord Byron’s muse in “She Walks In Beauty.”
