DALLAS, Nov 12, 2003/ FW/ --- Like the proverbial phoenix who rose from its own ashes,
Gustavo Arango is back in New York's fashion scene, this time stronger and more exciting.
After the events of Sept 11th destroyed his apartment, Arango returned to his home in Puerto
Rico.
Amidst his boyhood home, family and friends, he took stock of his situation and decided
to start over, from scratch.
He restructured his collection. 'Gustavo,' the label that his bridge clothes went by was
put on the shelf; “Gustavo Arango,” a luxurious eveningwear and daywear line was conceived
and created.
Sold exclusively at his flagship boutique in Puerto Rico, the designer decided that his
eponymous is ready to be unveiled to the world.
And last September, at Bryant Park, he did just that!
Feminine, fluid and flowing, the Gustavo Arango line impressed the press and buyers who
came to see the show.
Sexy and alluring, the collection emphasized the shoulder and the silhouette of the woman.
The deep V necklines hinted of cleavage, while the asymmetrical hemlines and necklines
redefined the meaning of balance and harmony.
Before the show, sales for the Gustavo Arango line were projected to reach $1 million next
year. With both the press and retail buyers taking notes constantly during his show,
there is a big chance that it will exceed that figure.
