NEW YORK, Sep 10, 2006/ FW/ --- Thirty-one pieces of sensual opulent clothing is what Gustavo Arango proposes for Spring/ Summer 2007 where cocktail dresses and flowing gown rule.
Opening with a blush silk satin tank with pleated chiffon appliqués over Shibori print sunrise orange pleated organza skirt the designer set the tone for his collection composed mainly of light and airy pieces created with silk satin, chiffon, silk chiffon, lace, and raw silk.
Choosing a soft color palette of blush, crème, silver gray, and white, as the main fare of the collection, sunrise orange, sundown magenta and midnight were added spice to the collection.
Known for his attention to details, Gustavo Arango used chiffon appliqués, draped lace insets and laser cutting as embellishments. Turning it up a notch, Arango also sent a fully cocktail dress that easily caught the eyes of the audience.
And though some fashion grouches were asking where was the daywear, supporters of Gustavo Arango’s ready answer was, ‘Do you really need daywear if you have beautiful clothes like this?’
With a very upscale clientele, it is easy to assume that Gustavo Arango really did not have to worry about daywear. After all, the ladies do not get up until after lunch, wherein they spend the afternoon getting their hair done and being pampered for their usual night out in town.
