Juan Carlos Obando LOS ANGELES, Mar 22, 2006/ FW/ --- Juan Carlos Obando’s minimalist approach to fashion with mannish aesthetics stood out as a beautiful and highly desirable collection after witnessing Jeans Day yesterday.

This collection, which was meant to represent the designer’s ‘Ode to Innocence’ instead became a sonnet representing his evolution as a serious world class designer worthy of being noticed not only in Los Angeles, but the world’s foremost fashion capitals, namely New York, Milan and Paris.

Showing a total of 25 looks the 28-year-old Obando gave individuality, power, pride, love and devastating savage beauty for his classy and chic pieces, which is what the designer believes that the women of today should stand for as mentioned in his press notes.

With his choice of such luxe fabrics in wool cashmere, silk, cotton-silk, silk taffeta, silk jersey, silk organza, velvet, chiffon, cashmere jersey, and georgette presented in black and shades of gray as in gun-metal and silver as well as ivory.

The pieces were shown is slimming silhouettes in an A-line mini-dress, pencil skirts, trousers all along mixing it up with a circular dress, cropped pants and voluminous sash skirts binding some around the waist with a self sash or extra wide crocodile skin hand-made razor belt and a wool and leather hand-made belt with nastro strap to keep the emphasis on the waistline.

Ideally enough for the season in question being fall and winter, the pieces were also shown with cotton-silk and lycra blend leggings worn down to the ankle and cropped to just below the knee or mid calf.

He also showed some cropped jackets in a shift, asymmetrical as well as an elaborate blade-cutted coat to help keep one warm on those cold wintry days.

Juan Carlos Obando also kept his details to a minimum with pleats, oversized ruffles, and oversized buttons and he added butter leather high-rise gloves as well as fur scarf giving the look a more chic look.
