LOS ANGELES, Mar 24, 2006/ FW/ --- The world knows Valeria Marini as an Italian actress, her latest film ‘In questo mondo di ladri’ released in 2004. Last February, she introduced ‘Seduzioni Diamonds’ lingerie and ready-to-wear line during the Milan fashion season. Yesterday, at Smashbox Studios, she brought the label to the U.S., making history along the way, as she is the first Italian designer who had ever shown during Los Angeles Fashion Week.

Her press notes described ‘Seduzioni Diamonds’ as ‘Immediate Starwear: a new way of dressing’ that can be every woman’s fantasy, i.e. dressing at home bearing a style half way between entertainment dreams and daily wear.

Valeria Marini could have been her own muse. With vital stats at 37 ½ inches - 24 ½ inches -37 ½ inches, and her work on both the movies and television, it can easily be said that Marini is designing for herself when she created the collection.

With Hollywood’s legendary screen goddesses as inspiration, Marini created dressing gown coats in knitted mohair with rich ruffles and fox pelts, kimono trenches with corset-like bustier, knitter cashmere suits and cashmere blazers with lace trimmings.

The opening piece, a white ‘Marilyn Monroe’ gown in silk satin worn by Ekaterina said it all! Slinky and floor length, with an ultra low neckline that revealed a fantasy bra made of semi-precious stones, it could be worn in a cocktail party or in the bedroom, take your pick.

Seduction came in many forms – in fatal chiffon stoles with foxtails and pelts, in velvets and satin inlayed with precious French lace and jewel encrusted underwear that can be seen through the clothes.

There’s sparkle in almost every garment, done with Swarovski crystals and gems; sometimes overt, sometimes understated as they are encrusted in lace and satin, the sparkles looking like little glimmer of lights as the dress moves.

It’s not the usual bling bling. It’s allusion, illusion and reality all rolled into one. One does not know whether a girl is ‘coming’ or ‘going’ as every piece can actually be worn in public. Yet, it is also lingerie, something a woman can wear while entertaining her partner.
