LOS ANGELES, Mar 23, 2006/ FW/ --- The Eiffel Tower was aptly projected on the walls of the Lightbox yesterday as Joyn Han presented her Fall 2006 collection that was built around a ‘young eclectic American woman traveling through Paris during the 1970s who is stricken with an intense affinity for 1920s fashion.’
Han, who runs a successful boutique at Melrose Avenue and whose clientele includes the current Hollywood ‘it’ girls like Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Avril Lavigne and Christina Milian introduced her flourishing Voom label to a wider audience at the Smashbox Studios yesterday.
Empire dresses with spaghetti straps, day jackets worn over scarf blouses, wide legged silk jumpers that are cropped, three-tiered ankle-length frocks that featured square necks, Han’s first name ‘Joy’ was evident in the collection.
Choosing not to go with the stereotyped looks in Paris, Han used exuberant original prints that are very reminiscent of Los Angeles emphasizing the theme of a bohemian American girl visiting the City of Lights.
Prints that ranged from big polka dots to flowers, Han captured the zeitgeist of Los Angeles – high energy with fun in mind and a dash of formality to be polished and refined.
It was Anna Sui without the little house on the prairie. It’s girly Los Angeles style!
