Milan Menswear Show Fall 2005
By: Randal Jacobs
MILAN, Jan 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Even though it has only been two full days of shows, it feels like two weeks of fashion mayhem. With many of the Italian and international fashion elite coming from the exhibitions in Florence, it has been a week of working.
Not to mention that most of the daily show goers did not get back into their hotel rooms until 7 this morning after partying at the Chandelier Motel last night. What is fashion week without exhaustion and surviving on vino and appetizers?
Frankie Morello kicked off the first official working week show around 10 this morning. By midday Jasper Conran’s intimate show was well on its way. Fighting with the tight schedule, editors could not go to lunch due to swinging from Cavalli to Barrett. And of course the Barrett show could not begin until Suzy Meinkes took her proper seat near Richard Buckley.
It must be fun for PR’s making the seating arrangements and putting all of the American press in one block. I learn so much by just listening to everyone talking.
Although the seating will never change, it is often great to see new comers. A big new comer on the list is the addition of the new editor of Man Vogue America. Yes, that is right: Man Vogue America!! Due to launch September of this year, I cannot wait to see how they stand up to their sister publications, Homme and Uomo!!
J. Lindeberg rapped the day up with an excited show and after party which was attended by Italian celebrities. Lindberg not only gives a great show, but always throws the best parties. After the fashionistas got tired of the live Cabaret Singer at Lindberg, they all rushed off to the midnight party for Andrew Mackenzie.
With another 9:30 morning tomorrow for the Dsquared2 show, I can tell that as usual the shows will be running late.
