MILAN, Jan 20, 2005/ FW/ --- It was a spectacular sunny end to the first official fashion week of 2005. Miharayasuhiro began the day bright and early. Giorgio Armani closed with the last two shows in the late afternoon.
This fashion week has given us a lot as far as trends go. Combed velvet and pony hair are the main two fabrics for next winter. Extreme oversized handbags were on every designer’s minds, as well as small organizational purses for men where they can stuff their check book and cellular phone.
Dark Denim is also making its way back onto the retail market with a big cuff. Many designers through the famous biker jacket down the catwalk a few times. Although there were a lot of simplistics for next winter, the show stoppers were giving sequins on lapels and at times entire sequins blazers.
Coats in overload and double breasted is the new wave. Dinner and smoking jackets are so right now. Blazers are definitely to be paired with light cord jeans with a basic white shirt. More casual chicness is a must as well as over indulging in accessories for warmth and style.
Designers are now phasing silver accessories out for men. Now it is totally a gold rush on the seen. With Moschino leading the rush, everything must be gold or some variation of it. Other notable trends were the cummerbund which was styled with jeans and a shirt. Men’s hats are becoming larger and more pimped out.
Men will definitely not be afraid of colour with Boateng continuing his purple and Etro splashing orange and yellow velvets everywhere.
Now it is time to move on and see what our French counterparts have to say about the Homme, but as for now in Milan “That’s All Folks.”
