MILAN, Jan 22, 2005/ FW/ --- ‘96 hours delivers a contemporary solution that targets a ready to wear consumer,’ said Neil Beeson, General Manager of the sport-fashion division of Puma.
This the first time that 96 hours has presented during Milan fashion week. The title is derived from a life of a sport celebrity and how they spend most of their lives on the road. 96 hours gains inspiration from two-wheeled motorsports, particularly ice-speedway racing.
Ice-speedway racing is a dangerous sport which is all about timing and reaction. The garments presented combined state of the art sport performance elements with high end aesthetics.
The collection was full of greys and charcoals mixed with black and shades of white. Jersey knit trousers and knit hoodies had various style details with zippers and elbow rubber padding. Leather biker jackets and wool coats also adorned the consistent detail of rubber elbow pads as well.
Light weight jumpers with breathable armpits were made specifically for the sport man. For the sporty woman there were long jersey hooded dresses made for leisure play. Other knit jersey single skirts with draw string hems had a rough elegant appeal. Heather grey and black anoraks are Puma classics in which Barrett re-introduced.
The shoe collection was the most innovative by using authentic gold-plated surfaces with the exact standards of the fireproof shoes used by motorsport drivers and pit crews. The inside lining is made with thermoregulation properties. The ankle biker boot in black was one of my favorites along with the basic white Puma trainers with either the black or lime green Puma logo.
Neil Barrett and Puma, what a great fashion marriage!!!!
