Daks Fall 2005
Milan Womenswear Show Fall 2005
Daks: Introduction to Milan
By: Randal Jacobs
MILAN, Mar 10, 2005/ FW/ --- The British brand Daks debuted their collection in Milan for autumn-winter 2005/2006. The new luxury line of Daks is designed by Tiziano Mazzilli and Louise Michielsens.
The show mixed British style with luxury tailoring and an eclectic glamour. They mixed exquisite hand-finished cuts and stitching to define a new but vintage silhouette.
The historic house check was reworked and placed on raincoats, skirts and jackets. Other wool and mohair coats were in green and soft pinks. Fitting for a British winter the coats looked warm with a flare of innovation.
A-line dresses were teamed with suede round toe heels. Fur trimmed capes floated down the runway with their signature check splashed on trousers. The colour palate had a definite autumn touch.
Gold lame pleated skirts and shirts spiced up the collection colour palate. Visible petticoats underneath baby doll dresses were amusing.
Velvet tuxedo trousers and corset dresses were for evening. A chocolate gown looked superb as it took centre stage down the catwalk.
A particular corset teamed with a long skirt was jewelled elaborately. These unexpected decorations throughout the collection were surprising.
This was a strong start for Daks into the Milanese fashion calendar with a remarkable freshness.
