Milan Menswear Show Fall 2005
Denis Simachev: Fairies and Queens
By Randal Jacobs
MILAN, Jan 22, 2004/ FW/ --- Denise Simachev is a born revolutionary who hails from Russia. His Milan debut show was the talk of the night filled with animated characters and men in heels.
The show began very peaceful by showing nicely tailored three-piece suits. The vests of the three piece suits were double breasted which gave the entire outfit a dandy affect. The suits were in lovely wools in browns and grays. The shoes of the collection were extreme round toe with a keen curve upwards at the toe. The grey boots with back zip were spectacular along with the perfect riding boot in brown and black.
The collection went on to present deep chocolate brown silhouettes with riding pants and blazers. Graphic dotted outfits and ash black jeans were nostalgic. A luxurious black velvet outfit was particularly appealing with black riding boots.
Simachev pushed limits with gold and silver shoes. He also shocked spectators with knee high red patent leather boots with at least a 4 inche vintage Cuban heal. Next came the sequence trousers and paisley and rose print jam pants and suits. These garments are very wearable, but with the right styling.
The show took a quick “Alice in Wonderland” turn by showing extreme costumes of fairy princesses, Zoro, wise men and more. As the models paraded around the catwalk in these 4 inche boots and costumes, they looked uncomfortable and unhappy. Of course I lived for the drama as well as the ginger model with piercing green eyes in the fairy costume with hairy legs.
The show concluded with more characters such as the snowman and a Russian version of Father Nick.
