MILAN, Jan 20, 2006/ FW/ --- Thanks to mass communication, being away from home does not mean being cut off from the news on the other side of the Atlantic. An interesting item that was on the newswire today is that Pantene® and the Council of Fashion Designers of America will host ‘Icons in Black & White,’ an evening that will pay tribute to seven iconic figures in American fashion.

Oleg Cassini, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Mary McFadden, Diane von Furstenberg and Vera Wang will be honored in a gala event on February 1, 2006 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

And since this is a ‘black & white ball,’ guests are expected to wear black & white outfits, with their hairstyles expected to be the one that will make them stand out in the crowd.

Part of the celebration is the opening of the "Icons in Black and White" Photographic Installation and Live Presentation.

Each designer has selected a photographic image of a look that defines his or her aesthetic. The photographs will be displayed in a special exhibition the night of the event.

The focal point of the evening is a live presentation at 7:45 pm during which CFDA will recreate each photo's fashion look using archival apparel, and Pantene hair stylist Gavin Harwin will provide a visionary, fresh update to each hair style while maintaining the unique essence and energy of the designer.

These truly landmark cultural and artistic moments in fashion and beauty will come to life in the extraordinary setting of The Whitney Museum.

The photographic exhibition will include images from each designer. For the presentation, renowned hair stylist Gavin Harwin will use Pantene products to design modern, on-trend looks inspired by the originals, in a live-model presentation, that will show how these iconic styles never go out of fashion.
