MILAN, May 21, 2007/ FW/ --- The Spring / Summer 2008 fashion season does not start until next month, but it is already heating up with news from Florence.
Salvatore Ferragamo confirmed Friday that instead of unveiling its latest menswear collection during Pitti Immagine Uomo, it will be bringing its show in Milan. Massimiliano Giornetti, the maison’s menswear designer will take center stage on the catwalk with his Spring / Summer 2008 collection on Jun 24, 2007 at the Milan Stock Exchange, the same location that the Florentine fashion house showed its Fall 2007/ Winter 2008 collection last February.
Meanwhile, also in Florence, Pucci is celebrated a star-studded 60th anniversary complete with an exhibit of vintage and historical Pucci products.
Kylie Minogue entertained guests that included Elizabeth Hurley, Prince & Princess Michael of Kent, and the Tuscan social set, the party looked like a get-together of the members of the European social register.
Founded in 1947 by Marchese Emilio Pucci, the brand is known for its original prints that were worn by the world’s most recognizable faces that included Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy and Lauren Bacall.
Reaching its heights during the 1960s, the decade that it would also become a household name in the U.S., the brand’s luster faded during the 1970s and 1980s. When the 1990s rolled around, Pucci was ripe for a re-launch and re-introduction to a whole new generation of fashionistas.
With Antonio Berardi, Julio Espada, Christian Lacroix and, currently Matthew Williamson on the creative helm, Emilio Pucci begun its revival. Christian Lacroix and Matthew Williamson who are both great colorists brought back the brand on the fashion map once again.
Last February, Matthew Williamson unveiled four new Pucci prints during the maison’s Fall 2007 / Winter 2008 catwalk presentation wherein he received rave reviews both for the new prints and the stellar collection he presented.
