Fall 2007 Fashion Season Kicks Off in Milan
MILAN, Jan 14, 2007/ FW/ --- A cold day made beautiful with the sun shining most of the day marked the first day of the Milan Menswear (Milano Moda Uomo) Fall 2007 season.
So, while both New York and Paris are still preoccupied with politics and still discussing Bush’s policy in Iraq and talking the upcoming French national elections in May, respectively, Milan had shifted gear and focused its attention on fashion.
Still, it will not be surprising if the catwalk echoed the dichotomous nature of the political climate. While France is expecting a change in the political arena, the U.S. is bracing for a status quo with the war in Iraq.
Fashion, though it can stand alone, is also a by-product of the socio-political environment simply because it is meant for people to wear.
Looking back 100 years ago, the turn of the century fashion manifested changes, yet it did not become very apparent until the 1910s rolled around. The 2000s marked the change to a new century and a new millennium, and we are still in the 7th year of its first decade.
The past fashion seasons have already shown a marked shifting of the forces of fashion, though the accepted norm of men’s dressing still remains in force. The current Milan Menswear season will continue that trend – innovations will be unveiled at the same time that a reworking of the classics are shown.
With 50 names listed on the official calendar alone, the Milan Menswear season continues to be the most vibrant event for men’s fashion around the globe.
