Individuality Prevails

DALLAS, June 30, 2001/ FW/ --- The Spring 2002 collections and fashion weeks kicked off in Milan with the Menswear show this week. What we see during this week is usually the harbinger of trends and styles that would be seen for whole season.

What are the fashion editors saying?

Costume National: Ennio Capasa dedicated his Spring 2002 collection to the "restless, cosmopolitan man."

Gucci: "It's about the individual, personal dressing, being different. I didn't think it right anymore focusing on one look, one style, one idea," said Tom Ford backstage, explaining his bold change of direction.

Valentino: Valentino sent out suave white linen blazers with retro square buttons, worn with embroidered scarves and some great sandals with perforated soles and crystal straps.

Versace: The Versace man next year will wear baggy pants with multi-pleats and tight little boxy jackets.
