Morrissey: A Celebration of Life

Peter Morrissey entered the Australian design scene during the 1980s. Together with Leona Edmiston, they launched the label Morrissey Edmiston in 1983.

During the 14-year life of the label (it was dissolved in 1997), the design duo has dressed a long list of celebrities which includes Kylie Minogue, Elle Macpherson, Michael Hutchence and Inxs, Helena Christensen, Jon Bon Jovi, Harry Connick Junior, Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise, Geoffrey Rush, Toni Collette.

The same year of Peter Morrissey's break-up with his long time design partner, he launches his own label under the name "Morrissey".

Three years later, in 2000, Morrissey became part of the OrotonGroup, the Australian leader in managing fashion brands and the sole licensee of Ralph Lauren down under.

Morrissey which started as an apparel line for men and women has expanded to include sunglasses, swimwear, jewellery, handbags, wallets and leather accessories.

Last February, the diffusion line Morrissey X, described as youth brand for nascent rock stars was launched.

On July 1, 2003, flight attendants for Australia's national airline QANTAS will be donning uniforms designed by Peter Morrissey.

On a release by QANTAS, the airline described Morrissey's design as "very exciting."

When asked what his design philosophy is, Peter Morrissey replied, "Morrissey is about celebrating life to the full. I don’t make clothes to protect you from the rain, I make them so you forget it’s raining."
