PARIS, Jul 5, 2007/ FW/ --- The world traveller who seemed to have handpicked on various beaches and treasure islands the embroidered pieces on her outfits last season in Nicolas Le Cauchois’ couture collection for spring, seems to have travelled far beyond the realm of the mortal world this season. Like a modern interpretation of Persephone coming back from hell for this next fall, the Nicolas Le Cauchois couture customer will indulge in erotic suggestions for this season, as she might have learned some tricks from Satan himself.

The huge video screen of the La Scala night club was blazing with virtual flames as the dauntingly charming Beelzebuths of Nicolas Le Cauchois hypnotized the audience with their red eyes and devilish hair shaped like horns to present a collection in black and red where the body and soul of liberated women acted as symbolic dreamcatchers for male fantasies.

Dreamcatcher was literally the emblematic amulet for these women who enjoy cinching their waistline with a reinterpretation of the Indian talisman, for instance in the opening jogger’s tuxedo in black jersey and heavy satin with a vertigo frilled plunging neckline.

The designer proved more faithful to his Christian Lacroix roots in a little black dress of multiple-layered chiffon which seemed strategically ripped for a tamed wild effect worn over a Chantilly lace skirt.

The tailored work by Nicolas Le Cauchois is also showing some undeniable mastering for instance in the high-waisted skirt suit with jet buttons; it reveals more innovation in a lurex trench-coat of silver, trimmed and underlined on each inlay with ruby red.

The eveningwear remains more spectacular still, especially in an exceptional long dressing gown displaying a tornado of large confetti and sequins of red and black in various fabrics.

When the round sequins of silk satin leave, the cardinal red buttons appear, probably stolen from a classic Roman catholic cassock to underline the arrogance of a split on a dress back in an otherwise relatively simple architecture of a long ball gown in red plain chiffon and satin high collar.

Relics of past parties in silver lace seem to wrap themselves again around the body of a very earthly creature in the last exit, a second skin red sheath enriched with a Hollywood red shawl which definitely creates a respectful distance around the object of desire.

Watch it, next fall, the couture Devil might well wear… Le Cauchois !
