Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Models to Ring Opening Bell At American Stock Exchange

NEW YORK, Feb 6, 2003/ FW/ --- The Dow and the NASDAQ might be on a downturn this week, but
the American Stock Exchange will heat up this Friday at 9:00 with the traditional ringing
of the bell.
Fern Mallis, Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and models,
Maggie Rizer and Alek Wek, will ring the opening bell of the
American Stock Exchange in honor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
from February 7 - 14 in New York.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, also known as the New York Fashion Week is the biggest
fashion event in the U.S. Held twice a year - in February and September, New York
traditionally kicks off the international fashion season.
Media attention for fashion is focused in New York for 8 days when designers like
Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein unveil their collection for the coming
season.
From New York, the fashion scene moves to London, Milan and then Paris, in that order.
Paris traditionally closes the international fashion season.
Fern Mallis, Executive Director of 7th on Sixth, the organizers of Mercedes-Benz Fashion
Week has been instrumental in making the event popular and well-attended each year.
For the past four seasons, Mercedes-Benz has been the main sponsor for the event.
