DALLAS, Feb 2, 2004/ FW/ --- The fashion flock remembers him as the designer who rejuvenated Burberry. Then he moved to Cerruti, where his debut collection for its menswear line received critical acclaim from the fashion press.

But in the ever-changing world of fashion, Roberto Menichetti decided to leave the Italian fashion house in 2002, after only one season.

And now, he’s back with his own label.

Simply called, "Menichetti," the designer plans to design to both design and produce the women’s, men’s and accessories lines which he will introduce on February 10 during New York Fashion Week.

According to a statement from the Menichetti Atelier, “this collection, which does not contemplate the launch of a second or third line, encompasses sophisticated pieces, technical items and basic elements mixed together in a range of content and prices.”

One aspect of the Menichetti collection is the research done before a piece was designed and created. The designer has to “invent” the fabric by intertwining natural yarns such as wool, cashmere and cotton with more technological fibers.

The result, aesthetically pleasing silhouettes that responds to the contemporary needs of our modern life.

As Roberto Menichetti explained in a statement, "I try to integrate the research, which always signifies change, with a new sensibility. The era of Aquarius, in which we have entered, involves all five senses, which interact with the existing world in a way which is profoundly different, guiding every personal perception."

The brand will be based in New York, and already has plans to go global, with offices win Asia, Europe and America.

Menichetti is being launched as a partnership between the designer and Mr. Richard B. Fisher and his wife, Jeanne Donovan Fisher.

Mr. Fisher is Chairman Emeritus of Morgan Stanley and is one of the most known figures in American finance. His wife is an independent theatre producer based in New York.

"We look forward to our partnership with Roberto Menichetti. It is an unusual opportunity to begin a business with a proven creative talent who is committed to building an enterprise of substantial value," Mr. Fisher said in a statement.
