The Heart Truth: The Little Red Dress

NEW YORK, Feb 6, 2004/ FW/ --- The Heart Truth, the campaign for Women and Heart Disease Awareness joins New York Fashion week for its second year.
Hosted by Patti Hansen, the show featured 26 gowns and dresses all in red.
Speaking to a full house at the Studio in Bryant Park, Patti Hansen explained the importance of the Heart Truth campaign, followed by a speech via video of First Lady Laura Bush.
Three special guests, Tiara Puro, Toni Biffle and Cathy Porter shared some very important factoid on what causes heart disease and the number of women that has been affected by it.
Twenty-six of the most prestigious fashion houses contributed dresses to the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2004.
Alice Roi, Baby Phat, Badgely Mischka, Betsy Johhnson, Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, Carmen Marc Valvo, Carolina Herrera, Catherine Malandrino, Cynthia Steffe, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Esteban Cortazar, Kenneth Cole, LUCA LUCA, Marc Jacobs, Matthew Williamson, Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez, Nicole Miller, Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang and Zac Posen.
Top fashion models (Hana Soukupova, Erin Wasson, Alek Wek, just to name a few) showcased the designers red dresses one right after the other.
Beverly Johnson, the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of Vogue, returned to the runway for the first time in over a decade for this event. She wore a Nicole Miller dress featuring a festive ruffled bottom and Swarovski jeweled neckline. Miller created this design exclusively for the campaign and its partner, Swarovski.
Vanessa Williams also took the walk in a design by Carmen Marc Valvo in yet a nother dazzling red chiffon layered ruffled gown.
