NEW YORK, Sep 10, 2004 / FW/ --- The Big Apple continues to be the city of choice by emerging designers to get their footing in the fashion world.

Nom*D, Nicole Romano and Haroun+Mosqueda, who are all promising in their own rights presented collections that are engaging and interesting.

Nom D

Black and White are predominantly colors at Nom-D Spring/Summer 2005. Both men's and women's wear are shown together. Cut-off sleeves, unfinished edges and deconstruction are key to the collection. Raincoat, hooded zip-front jersey and sheer leggings with signature N logo are very visible. Silver chain laced combat boots worn by both male and female models.

Nicole Romano

Nicole Romano's Spring/Summer 2005 Odyssey Collection is ready-to-wear and accessory inspired by travel as a vehicle for self-discovery. Seaside glamour and jet-set style merge with natural elements, such as lemon trees of Capri, the soaring rock formations of I Faraglioni, the Bay of Salerno's pure azure blue, mythical mermaids and intricate nets of fisherman.

Nicole is a beautiful woman to begin with and it shows on her collection. White and mint silk rope-detail halter dress, Cotton garden print window dress and Black seaweed bikini with four-layered silk horizon top are very memorable. She uses jerseys, embroidered silks and cotton piques to drape cowl shoulder dress, crossed rope detail and layering.

Haroun+Mosqueda

Menswear collection is what Haroun+Mosqueda Spring/Summer 2005 showed. Very detailed oriented that can bring you to the future. To start, the venue was a Drive In Studio garage that turned into a futuristic runway oasis. Models walked rugged but quite grunge, hair undone and wore high tops.

Black is the foundation of the collection that can also work for Fall. Crisscross tanks, harness jacket and slanted pocket pant that comes in cotton or leather. My personal favorite is a pant with multi snaps. Whether it's functional or not it simply gives you something to play with.
