NEW YORK, Feb 3, 2006 / FW/ --- Going strong on its fourth year, The Heart Truth is continuously supported by various good designers and celebrities alike, with this year’s theme, ‘The Red Dress is a Red Alert.’
The message is simple and reinforced, “Heart Disease Doesn’t Care What You Wear – It’s the #1 Killer of Women”.
All wearing the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness (The Red Dress), this year, support came by way of Lindsay Lohan wearing a Calvin Klien, Nelly Furtado in a Betsey Johnson, Lee Ann Womack in a Carmen Marc Valvo, Fergie in a Daniel Swarovski, Jossie Perez in a Diane Von Furstenberg, Deborah Harry in a Donna Karan, Natasha Bedingfield in a Estban Cortazar, Kelly Rowland in a House of Dereon, Cheryl Bentyne in a Jay McCarroll, Eartha Kitt in a Kai Milla, Emmylou Harris in a Kenneth Cole, Yolanda Adams in a Luca Luca, Christina Milian in a Max Azria Atelier, Bebe Neuwirth in a Narciso Rodriguez, Jojo in a Nicole Miller, Patti Hansen in a Oscar De La Renta, Sheryl Crow in a Ralph Lauren, Audra McDonald in a Richard Tyler, Amerie in a Tommy Hilfiger, Michelle Phillips in a Tracy Reese, Thalia in a Vera Wang, and Leann Rimes in a Zac Posen.
But the highlight of the show is a special performance by Elaine Stritch dressed by Charles Nolan and accompanied by Rob Bowman on his piano. Coming back from her walk down the runway in a red dress, she entertained the audience with an appropriate song, You Gotta have Heart”.
As all the celebrity models took their last walk down the runway, the entire audience gave them a much deserve standing ovation.
Bravo to the celebrities and designers for their continued support and to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for continuing their fight against heart disease.
