NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2006/ FW/ --- The now 73 year old Manuel Cuevas made his fashion debut Friday at Bryant Park alongside his son Manuel Cuevas Jr. (33), showing cowboy inspired pieces with classic rock-n-roll music playing in the background, from Rolling Stones to Jimi Hendrix.

And why not cowboy, you ask? Only because the legendary Manuel Cuevas has been creating specialty one of a kind pieces to the likes of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Roy Rogers, John Wayne, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper album, the Grateful Dead’s skull and of course the Rolling Stones tongue.

From snakeskin coat or skinny pant to bedazzled blouses and jackets, embroidered shirts and luxuriously blinged out floor length dresses (even one in snakeskin), one would certainly be able to tell that Manuel has been around and has been doing this for sometime.

But just one question comes to mind, what took you so long to come out and share this fabulous artistry?

With an array of elaborate, glamorous, sexy and edgy cowboy couture-like pieces, it is really no wonder why this designer has been one of the most sought after designer in the country music industry and then some.

Ending the show with Jimi Hendrix playing his famous rendition of ‘Star Spangled Banner’ on the background, male and female models wearing rhinestone jackets featuring New York, Tennessee, Hollywood and Texas designs presented in the patriotic colors of red, white and blue was as dramatic as it could get.

Perhaps, Manuel has plans on expanding to cover an even lager demographic, and why not since he received a much deserved standing ovation at the end of the show.
