DALLAS, Aug 4, 2005/ FW/ --- With the announcement of 7th on Sixth that UPS, the shipping company is giving 10 emerging designers a chance to show during the Olympus Fashion Week in a special catwalk created just for them, the involvement of big business in the fashion industry became more apparent that ever.

Of course, there are a lot of fashion houses that are considered ‘big business,’ namely Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Kenneth Cole, among others. But the ‘big business’ mentioned here mean enterprises other than fashion houses.

UPS is not alone is supporting American talents. Nokia and Motorola have consistently sponsored and collaborated with American designers, both established and emerging with either their runway shows and/or fashion accessories.

Kohl, a bed and bath company has also been a sponsor of Olympus Fashion Week. And of course, Olympus cameras, the title sponsor is first among the list.

Car companies like Mercedes Benz and General Motors have also been very generous. They were the former title sponsors of New York Fashion Week.

So, what it is about fashion that attracts companies from different industries?
