Vlasis Holevas Spring 2006: Something For Every Woman
New York Fashion Week Spring 2006
By: Shaun J. Wright
NEW YORK, Sep 19, 2005/ FW/ --- Patricia Field's presence at Vlasis Holevas’ debut showing at New York Fashion Week was a good indication that something good was about to be happen.
Part Miami glitz, part Hollywood red carpet premiere, Holevas’ spring 2005 looks would work effortlessly into the wardrobes’ of the Sex and the City gals, even though there beloved images are only viewed in syndication.
For Carrie: Now that she has finally experienced the world of Paris, her New York glamour girl look will be blessed with more dramatic eveningwear. Never the one to go the safe route, she may opt for the edgy lime silk and purple hand cut Chantilly lace dress. With her hair in a carefree, side swept ponytail straight off the runway, the sexy black satin and chiffon silk evening dress with Swarovski crystals would exquisitely match her new Manolo Blahniks!
For Samantha: Forever the showstopper, Samantha would go wild for the beautiful sherbet colored dresses that opened the show. Particularly perfect for her summer PR events is the blue silk dress with the sequined embroidered bodice and twisted shoulder straps.
For Charlotte: After all the glitz and glam, Charlotte would absolutely adore one of Holevas’ more demure black and white looks. A white silk/linen dress with removable manteau would be perfect for a day shopping with her new daughter. The dalmationesque polka dot silk cocktail dress would work wonderfully at an art gallery opening.
For Miranda: As the chicest lawyer in town, Miranda would knock ‘em dead at her firm’s cocktail party in a white silk bustier with black silk chiffon palazzo pants. For dancing with the girls, the yellow and red hand painted silk empire dress would perfectly complement her fiery red hair.
Although we may never see these iconic women wearing the newest fashions on screen again, there is no harm in imaging them in one of Holevas’ beautiful designs. His collection provided something for every woman, but never seemed to lose focus.
Maybe the magic of his collection and Sex and the City is that every woman can see a bit of herself in Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, or Miranda. And if she so desires she can emulate one of them in a superb Holevas dress.
