NEW YORK, Feb 2, 2007 / FW --- Celebrating its 5th year at the Tent, the Red Dress Collection has become a mainstay during the New York fashion season for fall, with the most celebrated women in the world as catwalkers to raise awareness about heart disease.
As in seasons past, First Lady Laura Bush is the guest of honor for the 2007 Red Dress Collection composed of one-of-a-kind red dresses designed by America’s most acclaimed designers.
Likewise, as in the past five years, the theme of the show revolves around the ‘red dress’, which had become a national symbol for women and heart disease. In fact, today, February 2nd is the National Red Dress Day, wherein everyone is urged to wear a red dress to symbolize the nation’s unity in the fight against heart disease.
Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, The Heart Truth’ is a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease.
Designed to warn women of their #1 health threat, ‘The Heart Truth’ created and introduced the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 to deliver an urgent wake-up call to American women.
The Red Dress reminds women of the need to protect their heart health and then inspires them to take action.
